Archbishop Jose H. Gomez speaks about St. Mary Magdalene

July 29, 2011 | maddie.winstead

The July 22 Memorial of St. Mary Magdalene is a time to recall the holy woman’s life and her “beautiful story” of God’s life-changing love and mercy for everyone,  said. He contrasted her life with an American culture that is “quick to condemn.” Click here to read the full article.

“Women’s Authentic Nature Revealed in Motherhood”

May 9, 2011 | jamie.gruber

A recent article on EWTN News, features an interview with Endow’s very own Board Member, Janet Teran.  We are privileged to have Teran on our team at Endow! She is an authentic example for us all on motherly love:

… Teran notes that “Mothers love to talk about their children. To me, saying the rosary is like sitting in Mary’s lap, listening to her talk about her Son.”

Teran added that she connects the significance of praying the rosary to a phrase that defines the spirituality of her son’s community, “Through Christ to Mary and through Mary more fully to the Lord Jesus.”

Through this dynamic, Teran said she has come to understand and more fully participate in her own motherhood.

This Mother’s Day Teran encourages mothers everywhere by underscoring that “all of heaven, the entire heavenly host, are helping we mothers.”

A Moving Prayer from an Endow Board Member

March 8, 2011 | jamie.gruber

At Endow, we are blessed with a Board of Directors who is heavily invested in our mission to serve “the woman in the pew” with rich study guides that lead us closer to our Father.

Father Jorge Rodriguez, at our recent Board Meeting, closed the meeting with this moving prayer! We had to share it with all of you.

PRAYER:

God, Our Father, (at the beginning of our Spring Board Meeting) today we want to acknowledge and praise you for the many blessings you have given us in Creation, especially for creating man and woman in your image and likeness. In woman, you gave us the tender touch of your maternal and life-giving love. We give you thanks for the gift of virginity, maternity, and the woman’s genius that we discover in the promising maternity of Eve, the fidelity of Ruth, the courage of Judith, the love of Rebecca, the innocence of Susanna and the generosity of Hanna. In the Scriptures you let us know your love for the woman’s genius when you said “Like the sun rising in the Lord’s Heavens, is the beauty of the virtuous women in her home” (Sirach 26:16).

Lord, Jesus Christ, “the beauty of the virtuous woman” shone like a rising sun in your Heavens in the countenance of your Mother, Mary. She is the most perfect accomplishment of woman’s genius. You wanted us to share with you her maternal love. As a man you experienced what the love of a mother means: her delicate touch in our lives and hearts, the sweetness of her eyes and the care of her hands.

God, the Holy Spirit, you are God’s love poured into our hearts. You are the source of all love and life because you are the “Giver of Life”. You are the source of love and care women have instinctively for life, especially for life in need of protection and care.

We pray for all women: our mothers and sisters; those consecrated to you in religious life and in married life; and for women who are deprived of their rights, marginalized, unloved, and unappreciated in the values they want to share and offer. Keep your love in their hearts.

Lord, Give Endow the grace and courage to be the apostles of the Good News about women. Give us the deep appreciation of the treasure you have put in the heart of each woman for the service of all humankind, especially for the joy of our Christian community.

Lent to me is a blessed time of opportunity to concentrate on a lessening of me. During this time of grace, I beg for extra grace to imitate St. John the Baptist when he said “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (Jn 3:30). My beloved Dad used to joke by repeating the phrase “Selfa-denial! Selfa-denial!” when we were called to sacrifice in various ways. Putting aside some of my excesses and practicing a bit of “selfa-denial” is one way I actively join in the process of becoming less of me and more of Christ Jesus. I love walking with Christ through Lent by joining with Him in these small sacrifices knowing in full HOPE that Resurrected Life in Christ is just on the other side His Passion and Crucifixion. As I strive to be a full gift of self, selfa-denial by selfa-denial, I joyfully await the promise of fuller New life in Christ! Come Holy Spirit!

Hugh Hewitt Hosts Sr. Prudence: 2009

February 7, 2011 | maddie.winstead

Sr. Prudence Allen, RSM, Advisory Board Member of ENDOW, was a guest speaker on the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show on June 3, 2009.  During this interview Sr. Prudecne and Mother Regina Marie (of the Carmelites) both shared about Religious Life and particularly about the new book, “Foundations of Religious Life:  Revisiting the Vision”.  (Click here to learn more about this amazing new book and order a copy for your family!)

Both Sr. Prudence and Mother Regina Marie were co-authors of this book, written by the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR) of which they are a part.   The Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious has maintained the historical form of religious life, with sisters living in community and wearing the habit. While many religious orders are currently facing marked decline in novitiates and the aging of their members, the communities of the CMSWR are experiencing growth on a worldwide scale.
